The Senior Resource Center oversees four meal sites throughout Sawyer County. They are located in the towns of Hayward, Exeland/Winter, Spider Lake, and Stone Lake.

What is it?

Senior Nutrition Programs provide congregate (served on site) and home-delivered meals (Meals on Wheels), which allow individuals to remain healthy, active and independent in their communities and homes.

When is it?

Homemade Meals are served Monday through Friday at noon at the sites in Hayward, Exeland/Winter, and Stone Lake. Meals for eligible home bound individuals are delivered to their home on the same schedule.

In order to ensure there is enough food available and reduce waste, PLEASE call the site location and make a reservation no later than 9am on the day of the meal, although we would prefer a call at least a day in advance. Substitutions can be made with advance notice.

Please call the Hayward site at (715) 634-4680 to make lunch reservations in advance for Spider Lake and Stone Lake.

Spider Lake lunch service is offered twice a week at the Spider Lake Church on Mondays and Thursdays at noon.

Stone Lake is temporarily offering meals at the Stone Lake Wesleyan Church serviced from the Hayward kitchen on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

What does it cost?  January, 2023 Meal Price Change Notice

For people age 60+, effective January 1, 2023, the suggested contribution will change to $7.00 for all meals (lunch, home delivered and carry out) and breakfast in Stone Lake will change to $5.00. You will not be denied a meal if you are 60+ and unable to contribute.

We are committed to protecting the privacy of your contribution.  If you have any questions, please contact the office at 715-634-3000.  The Federal Older Americans Act, the USDA and donations also fund this service.

For those who are under age 60, there is a charge of (TBA) to cover the full cost of the meal.

Are rides available?

Bus transportation within Hayward is available Monday-Friday, within a 5 mile radius of Hayward. The bus is handicap accessible and provides rides for people 55+ or disabled. A discount is available for those who qualify. Request an application from the driver or the Senior Resource Center. Please call at least 24 hours in advance for a ride, 715-634-3000.

How do I sign up?

In order to ensure enough meals and made while controlling costs and reducing wasted, uneaten food, we kindly request that you call in a meal reservations by 9am the day of the meal, preferably a day in advance. Reservations are made by calling the nutrition center nearest your home. You can call the site as early as 8 am.

How can I help?

The nutrition sites are always in need of volunteers as site workers and Meals on Wheels delivery drivers. Please call the Senior Resource Center office for information or your local nutrition site manager about volunteer opportunities or job opportunities.

You can also send in a donation at any time to any of the sites to support our Meals on Wheels and Nutrition Programs.
